Art and Culture
During the Edo Period Japans culture was mostly focused on military. The lower class of merchants had a more art then most of the classes and used it in depicting women, actors, and travel landscapes. The capital of art in Japan was Kyoto. Within the merchant class there was a renaissance for the arts and the floating world picture style became big in Japan and is what it is know for today. Painting and woodblock prints were the most common medium.
